Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus Mattress Overview

As we noted above, Brooklyn Bedding is a very popular online mattress brand. It’s earned a reputation for making quality mattresses at value prices thanks to the fact that the brand owns its own factory in the USA. This allows them to cut out a lot of middlemen and pass on savings to customers. The company also offers many other mattress models including the Bloom Hybrid, Brooklyn Bedding Signature, Brooklyn Bedding Bowery, and Plank mattress.

The Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus is designed specifically for heavyweight sleepers and is meant to offer plenty of support and durability. It is a hybrid bed that layers quality foams over heavy-duty coils, and it’s priced lower than many other beds made for larger people. Could this be the supportive mattress for you? Here’s a quick look at who might love the Titan Plus and who might need to keep looking.

Who Might Like The Titan Plus?

  • Larger people (anywhere from 200 to 500 pounds) who are looking for a supportive mattress
  • Heavyweight sleepers who prefer a firm mattress
  • Heavyweight stomach sleepers

Who Might Not Like The Titan Plus?

Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus Video Review

Take the Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus for a vicarious test spin with our in-depth video review! Our reviewer, Joe, will detail each layer of this bed’s construction and share his experiences with sleeping in every position on the Titan Plus.

Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus Firmness And Feel

Firmness and feel are important factors to consider when you’re mattress shopping because they tell you a lot about whether a bed might suit your sleep position(s) and other sleep preferences. So let’s dive into the firmness and feel of the Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus!

How Firm Is The Titan Plus?

Firmness is always a bit subjective, and that’s especially true for beds that are designed with heavier people in mind. Our average-weight reviewer ranked the Titan Plus around a 9 out 10 on the firmness scale, which is extremely firm. (The industry standard for average firmness is 6.5/10.) That said, folks who weigh somewhere between 300 and 500 pounds could find that the mattress feels a bit softer. They’re more likely to press into the foam layers of the mattress and receive more pressure relief.

It’s also worth noting that we’re reviewing the Plus model here. If you want something softer, consider the Titan Plus Luxe mattress.

Sleeping On The Titan Plus

The Titan Plus was very supportive for back sleeping. In fact, some sleepers might find that this mattress feels too supportive in this position. Because it’s very firm, the hips don’t sink in much at all for pressure relief. That said, we did experience plenty of spinal support.

In our experience, the Titan Plus is not a good match for side sleeping. Because it’s quite firm, we experienced a lot of pressure around the shoulder and hip.

Titan Mattress - Side Sleeping

We found this mattress to be a great match for stomach sleeping. We experienced great support under our hips and across our entire body. Stomach sleepers of pretty much any size could feel at home on the Titan.

What Does The Titan Plus Feel Like?

The Titan Plus has an innerspring feel with just a bit of that soft memory foam feel on top. The memory foam on top means this isn’t a bouncy mattress. At the same time, the coils in the support layer ensure that sleepers don’t feel stuck.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs

Average-weight back and side sleepers will almost certainly find that this mattress feels way too firm. Average-weight stomach sleepers who enjoy a firm feel will obtain plenty of spinal support on this bed.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

Heavyweight back sleepers who like a firm feel could enjoy the Titan Plus, while folks who prefer a bit more cushion might want to consider the Titan Plus Luxe. Heavyweight side sleepers will almost certainly feel that this mattress is too firm and doesn’t offer enough pressure relief. Heavyweight stomach sleepers should enjoy fantastic spinal support on this mattress. Overall, it is one of the best mattresses for heavy people.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

Lightweight sleepers of all stripes will almost certainly find that this mattress feels too firm. This makes sense considering the mattress is designed explicitly for heavier-weight sleepers.

Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus Mattress Construction

Now that you know what it’s like to sleep on top of the Titan Plus, let’s take a peek under its cover! We’ll reveal each layer of this bed’s construction and share how different materials affect feel and performance.

Cover

The Titan Plus features a polyester cover that’s quilted with 1” of gel memory foam. The gel infusion helps with cooling, while the high-density memory foam adds a touch of comfort right off the bat without risk of sagging. You can also choose to add an optional cooling top panel that’s sewn into the surface of the mattress.

Comfort Layer

The primary comfort layer on the Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus is made from 2” of patented TitanFlex foam, which offers a bit of responsive contouring and pressure relief.

Titan Mattress Construction

Support Layers

The Titan Plus’s support layer is made from 6” of TitanCaliber coils, industrial coils that should make this a long-lasting mattress that won’t sag. Underneath the coils, there’s a base made from 2” of high-density foam, which adds overall structure and support.

Mattress Height

The Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus is 11” tall.

Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus Mattress Performance

Before you make up your mind about the Titan Plus, keep reading! There are still some critical factors to consider, and we’ve done all the legwork for you. We put this mattress through a barrage of tests with regard to temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support, and more. Let’s see how it performed!

Sleeping Hot Or Cold

The Titan Plus does a decent job of sleeping cool thanks to the gel infusion in its cover and the coils, which allow for plenty of airflow throughout the mattress. If you’re still worried about sleeping hot, you can purchase the optional cooling cover. This will make it a great mattress for hot sleepers. If you are a hot sleeper, you can also consider Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress and Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Elite mattress.

Motion Transfer

Even though this is a firm bed, it does a great job of minimizing motion transfer. The foam in the top layers absorbs movement and helps limit disturbances across the surface of the bed. This could be a decent mattress for couples (particularly when both partners are larger).

Edge Support

This is a very supportive mattress overall, and that holds true for its edges! We felt very secure while sitting and lying down near the edges of the Titan Plus. This bed features solid edge support.

Titan Edge Support

Durability

The Titan Plus is made with high-density foams and industrial coils that are designed to support heavier weights over the long haul. This should be a great long-term investment.

Off-Gassing

The foams in the Titan Plus are CertiPUR-US certified, which means they’re more eco-friendly than conventional foams and are low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This also means there shouldn’t be much unpleasant off-gassing from this mattress. While you might notice a natural scent immediately after un-boxing this bed, it should dissipate within 24 to 48 hours.

Noise

At the time of our review, we didn’t observe any notable noise from this mattress. That said, because this bed incorporates coils, it’s possible they might start to squeak a bit over time.

Sex

When people seek out a mattress for sex, they’re usually concerned about whether it will be easy to change positions. The Titan Plus could be a decent option because the responsiveness of the coils means that partners shouldn’t feel stuck in this bed.

Common Titan Plus Mattress Complaints

One of the most common complaints about the Titan Plus is that it’s not very plush or pressure-relieving. That said, the mattress doesn’t make any promises that it will be those things! This is a firm, extra-supportive mattress through and through.

How Does The Titan Plus Compare To Other Mattresses?

Want to do some comparison shopping? No problem! We’ve done the work for you by pitting the Brooklyn Bedding Titan against two of its biggest competitors: The Big Fig and the WinkBeds Plus.

Titan Plus Vs Big Fig

Both the Titan Plus and the Big Fig layer high-density foams over extra-supportive coils, and they’re both made for heavier people. Their constructions are pretty similar, but it’s worth noting that the Titan Plus includes some memory foam while the Big Fig uses latex foam.

Big Fig - Construction

We ranked the Titan Plus around 9/10 on the firmness scale, or significantly firmer than average. The Big Fig is also firmer than average, but we ranked it a touch softer than the Titan Plus at 8/10.

Not surprisingly, these beds feature similar feels. They’re both responsive hybrid beds, though the Big Fig is a bit bouncier than the Titan Plus.

Despite their similarities, these beds differ dramatically in terms of price. A Queen-size Titan Plus starts at $1249.00 , while the same size Big Fig is much pricier at a starting price of $1899.00 .
